Clara Wieck, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms. Trois noms qui habitent le coeur du romantisme allemand — et trois destins entremêlés dans une relation aussi musicale qu’intime, faite d’admiration, de fidélité et de trouble.

 

Robert Schumann rencontre Clara dès son adolescence, tombe amoureux d’elle et l’épouse en 1840 après une lutte acharnée contre le père Wieck. Il voit en elle une pianiste d’exception, mais aussi une compositrice qu’il admire profondément. Leur union est faite de complicité artistique et de luttes intérieures, jusqu’à la dégradation mentale de Robert, interné à partir de 1854.

 

C’est alors qu’entre en scène Johannes Brahms, jeune pianiste et compositeur prodige, âgé de 20 ans. Il est reçu chez les Schumann, admiré par Robert et bouleversé par Clara. Lorsque Robert est interné, c’est Brahms qui veille sur Clara et ses enfants, à Düsseldorf, avec une dévotion sans faille. Entre Clara et Johannes s’établit alors un lien d’une intensité rare, à la frontière du sentiment amoureux et de la collaboration artistique — dont la nature exacte reste à ce jour mystérieuse.

Pendant près de quarante ans, Clara et Brahms échangeront lettres, partitions, jugements et silences. Elle crée certaines de ses oeuvres, il relit les siennes, elle protège sa mémoire, il lui dédie des lieder. Le coeur partagé : entre passé et avenir, entre fidélité et désir, entre deux hommes qu’elle aime — chacun à sa façon.

 

Ce concert donne à entendre ces voix croisées, dans un programme resserré autour des Fünf Stücke im Volkston de Robert Schumann, des Trois Romances de Clara Schumann et de la Sonate n°1 de Brahms. Une manière de faire vibrer, sans discours, ce qui a traversé leur musique : ce lien inclassable et ce coeur, multiple.

 

Marie YTHIER, violoncelliste
Marie YTHIER est une violoncelliste française d’origine mauricienne qui mène une carrière internationale en tant que soliste. Musicienne classique, mais aussi engagée dans une démarche de création auprès des compositeurs de sa génération, Marie YTHIER a déjà à son actif six disques, dont Une Rencontre, autour des oeuvres de R.Schumann et T. Murail (Divine Art Recordings, Naxos2019), qui a reçu les éloges de la presse internationale. Elle est régulièrement invitée dans des salles prestigieuses (Philharmonie de Paris, Auditorium de Dijon…) et se produit en soliste dans le monde entier (Kuhmo Festival, FIMC Lima, Suona Francese Italia, Festival Messiaen au Pays de la Meije, Forum cultural de Guanajuato, CENART de Mexico, Luzern KKL…).

Marie Ythier travaille régulièrement avec des compositeurs tels qu’Ivo Malec, Gilbert Amy, Tristan Murail, Pierre Boulez…et est déjà dédicataire d’une vingtaine de pièces écrites pour elle. Elle joue en soliste sous la direction de chefs de renom (P. Boulez, T. Zehetmair, R. Fores Veses, J. Arean, P. Csaba, C. Power, J. Deroyer…).

Passionnée par la transmission, elle est professeure de violoncelle au CRR de Lyon et donne des masterclasses en Europe, en Asie, et en Amérique latine.

Marie Ythier, du fait de ses expériences musicales variées, est une artiste dont l’éclectisme et l’ouverture d’esprit se révèlent dans l’intérêt particulier qu’elle voue à la musique nouvelle. Elle aborde aussi volontiers le répertoire de toutes les époques, en musique de chambre ainsi qu’en soliste.

Lauréate de nombreux prix nationaux et internationaux (1er prix du concours de violoncelle des Zonta Clubs, lauréate Mécénat Société Générale, fondation Meyer, Adami…), Marie Ythier est diplômée des CNSM de Lyon et du CNSM de Paris où elle a effectué un 3è cycle supérieur. Marie Ythier est lauréate de la fondation Salabert ainsi que de la Fondation de France pour l’année 2015. Artiste en résidence à Monceau Assurances en 2017, lauréate de la fondation Cordes Sensibles, et enfin artiste associée de l’Adami depuis 2018, puis artiste en résidence de la Fondation Royaumont de 2021 à 2024· Marie Ythier est artiste associée de la Fondation Singer-Polignac depuis Juin 2018 ainsi qu’Artiste « Génération Spedidam » jusqu’en 2024.

 

Nouchine SCHOPFER, pianiste
Née à Genève, Nouchine SCHOPFER commence ses études de piano à l’âge de 9 ans au Conservatoire de musique de sa ville natale. Elle entre rapidement dans les classes professionnelles de la Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève (HEM) où elle obtient son Diplôme professionnel d’enseignement du piano ainsi que le Prix de Virtuosité de Musique de Chambre (actuel « Master of Arts HES-SO en Interprétation musicale avec orientation en Concert. »)

Elle poursuit alors ses études à la Haute Ecole des Arts de Berne, dans la classe de piano et d’accompagnement de lied du pianiste polonais Tomasz HERBUT. Elle se présente au concours pour la Bourse de la Fondation Ernst GÖHNER et Pourcent Culturel Migros à Zürich et remporte la bourse trois années de suite. Elle termine alors ses études à Berne par le prestigieux Diplôme de soliste (actuel « Master of Arts HES-SO en Interprétation musicale avec orientation Soliste. ») Elle travaille ensuite avec le célèbre pianiste français Pascal ROGÉ et se perfectionne en participant aux Master classes de György SEBÖK et Paul BADURA SKODA. Elle bénéficie également régulièrement des précieux conseils de Jean-François HEISSER. Sur le point de partir pour la Juilliard School à New-York, la vie lui propose alors un autre chemin : elle fonde une famille et décide d’être une mère présente pour ses enfants, choix qu’elle estime difficilement compatible avec une carrière internationale. Cependant, elle ne cessera jamais de se produire en concert. Amoureuse de Maurice depuis son premier séjour en 1995 et « mauricienne de coeur », elle s’installe sur l’île en 2022 avec son compagnon, le comédien, scénariste et metteur en scène Daniel VOUILLAMOZ. Depuis lors, elle y donne régulièrement des concerts, notamment au Caudan Arts Centre, au Château de Labourdonnais, au Château de Bel Ombre, en solo ou en duo avec son compagnon Daniel VOUILLAMOZ et aussi en musique de chambre. Nouchine SCHOPFER continue de se produire régulièrement en Suisse où elle a donné récemment plusieurs concerts en soliste et en musique de chambre et se produira à Genève en février 2026 dans Une Soirée avec Schubert, récital de piano avec Daniel VOUILAMOZ à la narration.

Déconseillé au moins de 16ans

Dans l’appartement parfaitement ordonné du député Ventroux, tout doit obéir à la mesure, au contrôle, à la respectabilité… du moins en théorie. Car Clarisse, son épouse, esprit libre et rayonnant, à la singulière – et très dérangeante – habitude de se promener dans des tenues bien trop légères au goût de son mari.

 

Alors, lorsqu’un rival politique et un journaliste influent surgissent sans prévenir, l’univers soigneusement cadré de Ventroux s’effondre.

Comment défendre l’ordre public quand sa propre femme défie toutes les règles de la bienséance ?
Comment préserver son calme quand chaque tentative de rétablir la décence se transforme en catastrophe ?

 

Ce qui devait être une journée banale tourne rapidement à un festival de quiproquos, de portes qui claquent, de susceptibilités froissées et de situations délicieusement explosives.

 

Pris entre un mari à bout de nerfs, une épouse innocemment scandaleuse et des visiteurs beaucoup trop curieux, Feydeau déchaîne un tourbillon comique irrésistible où le moindre vêtement devient… affaire d’État.

 

Une comédie de mœurs savoureuse, mordante, et étonnamment actuelle : lorsqu’une simple chemise menace l’image publique, c’est tout un monde qui chancelle.

Le centenaire de la naissance de John Coltrane et Miles Davis inspire au pianiste et arrangeur franco-suisse François Lindemann une création scénique ambitieuse, dédiée à l’univers musical et à l’influence durable de ces deux monuments du jazz. Ce spectacle célèbre leur génie créatif, leur audace artistique et l’empreinte profonde qu’ils ont laissée sur l’histoire de la musique du XXᵉ siècle.

 

Figures centrales de l’évolution du jazz moderne, Miles Davis et John Coltrane ont partagé une collaboration décisive à la fin des années 1950, notamment au sein du légendaire Miles Davis Quintet. Cette rencontre a marqué un tournant esthétique majeur : Miles, visionnaire et catalyseur de talents, offrait des espaces de liberté musicale inédits, tandis que Coltrane y forgeait une voix singulière, spirituelle et exploratoire. Ensemble, ils ont contribué à redéfinir les langages du jazz, ouvrant la voie au modal, au free jazz et à une approche plus introspective et audacieuse de l’improvisation. Leur héritage continue d’influencer des générations de musiciens à travers le monde.

 

Les thèmes emblématiques de leur répertoire sont ici transformés, réarrangés et orchestrés par François Lindemann, dans le respect de leur esprit originel, tout en proposant une vision résolument contemporaine. Certaines pièces se parent même de couleurs afro-indo-mauriciennes, offrant une lecture nouvelle et ouverte sur le monde de cette musique intemporelle.

Award-winning South African stand-up comedian makes his maiden Mauritian voyage this April with his new stand-up special Geriatric Millennial.

The show offers a laugh-a-minute brutally honest reflection on the absurdity of modern adulthood, midlife anxiety, and the increasingly blurry line between spiritual awakening and chronic back pain management / wondering if that knee thing is permanent – all filtered through the lens of a middle-aged Jewish South African comedian confronting mortality while doom-scrolling through the apocalypse.

“I’m at that beautiful intersection where I remember when the internet made sounds, but I also need a nap after scrolling,” says Rabinowitz. “I’m under-medicated, over-methylated, orthopaedically compromised, catastrophically sleep-deprived, and somehow still standing. Up. On stage. It’s basically a miracle.”

“Depending on how much the audience and I like each other on any given night, the show could run 70 minutes or 80,” Rabinowitz added. “I’m leaving room for healing. Or heckling. Whichever comes first.”

Rabinowitz is one of South Africa’s most celebrated stand-up comedians, known for his sharp wit, rapid-fire delivery, and ability to find humor in the uncomfortable corners of contemporary life. He has performed across five continents, from LA to Lagos, London to Langa, Sydney to Soweto, Edinburgh to eMalahleni, and according to him, “single-handedly healed the nation with jokes.” (The nation has not yet confirmed this claim.)

Geriatric Millennial marks his 16th solo show and is performed in English with a PG16 age restriction. Laugh until the apocalypse comes, the messiah comes back, or your back goes out.

Nik Rabinowitz is one of South Africa’s most celebrated stand-up comedians, known for his sharp wit, rapid-fire delivery, and multilingual social commentary.

A unique perspective, multilingual abilities (English, Afrikaans, and isiXhosa) and an ability to blend observational humor with cultural insider knowledge allows him to bridge cultural divides and connect with diverse audiences. This, coupled with his ability to be both provocative and warmly inclusive has earned him critical acclaim and a devoted following.

He’s performed internationally across five continents and produced sixteen one man stand-up specials.

Eric Triton, guitariste gaucher d’exception, a façonné son univers sonore unique en jouant sur une guitare de droitier aux cordes inversées. Cette approche singulière de son instrument incarne déjà sa philosophie : transformer les contraintes en créativité, refuser la conformité, inventer sa propre voie. Sa main gauche a créé une signature musicale reconnaissable entre mille, une preuve que la différence peut devenir force.

Des sommets atteints par Marcel Proust à la décadence du Moulin Rouge, la Belle Époque (entre 1871 et 1914 approximativement) fut une période où la culture parisienne connut un essor sans précédent. Les salons parisiens devinrent des lieux où poètes, peintres et compositeurs se réunissaient pour partager leur art. La soprano française Laetitia Grimaldi et le pianiste sud-africain Ammiel Bushakevitz proposent un programme de chansons romantiques françaises, présenté dans le style d’un concert de salon parisien de la Belle Époque.

 

 

From the heights of Marcel Proust to the decadence of the Moulin Rouge, the belle époque (circa 1871-1914) was a time when culture flourished more than ever in Paris. The salons of Paris became places where poets, painters and composers would meet to share their art. The French soprano Laetitia Grimaldi and South African pianist Ammiel Bushakevitz offer a program of romantic French songs, presented in the style of a Parisian salon concert from the Belle Époque.

Since her Carnegie Hall debut in 2013, Laetitia Grimaldi has sung in many renowned halls, opera stages and international festivals worldwide: the Kennedy Center (USA), Shanghai & Forbidden City Concert Halls (China), Festival Pitic (Mexico), Festival Musica Classica (Canada), Verbier Festival (Switzerland), Ravinia Festival (USA), Festival d’Aix-en-Provence (France) and the Melbourne Festival (Australia).

 

In 2017 Laetitia Grimaldi was awarded the first prize in three international competitions:1st prize-GrandPrix at the Concours International de Mélodies Françaises in Montreal, Canada, the 1st prize at the Concours International Robert Massard in Bordeaux, France as well as the 1st Prize at the Concours International Pro Musicis in Paris.

 

Born in France, Laetitia Grimaldi spent her childhood in Lisbon and London. After beginning her vocal studies with Teresa Berganza, she continued her education with Lorraine Nubar in New York City, first at the Manhattan School of Music, followed by a Master degree from the Juilliard School, New York.

 

Laetitia Grimaldi has had the privilege to work with conductors and artists such as William Christie, Leonardo Garcia Alarcon, Vlad Iftinka, Antoine Glatard, Jorge Parodi, Ryan Brown, Anne Manson and Carlos Miguel Prieto, Pablo Sainz Villegas, Malcolm Martineau and she has performed extensive recital tours in China, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South Africa, Canada, the USA and throughout Europe as well as performances with orchestras in Montreal, Brasilia, Cape Town and the Château de Versailles.

 

Recent performances include recitals in New York’s Carnegie Hall and Berlin’s Konzerthaus as well as a gala performance together with Placido Domingo.

 

 

AMMIEL BUSHAKEVITZ

Ammiel Bushakevitz began playing the piano at the age of four. He has performed as soloist, chamber musician and song pianist on six continents, including at New York’s Carnegie Hall, London’s Wigmore Hall, the Paris Philharmonie, Berlin Konzerthaus, Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Shanghai Concert Hall. His performances include the festivals of Salzburg, Lucerne, Bayreuth, Aix-en-Provence, Heidelberg, Milan, Montreal, Beijing, Brasilia and Melbourne.

 

His recordings include numerous award-winning albums with Harmonia Mundi, Alpha, Pentatone, Berlin Classics, BIS, Gramola, Solfa, Hänssler Classics and Deutsche Grammophon. Hist recording awards include the Diapason d’Or de l’Année, the German Record Critics’ Prize and the Dutch Edison Prize.

 

Ammiel Bushakevitz grew up in South Africa and studied in Leipzig and Paris. He has a special love for Lieder and was one of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau’s last private pupils. Together with Jóhann Kristinsson he has performed all of Schubert’s large song cycles and a large portion of Gustav Mahler’s Lieder.

 

Ammiel Bushakevitz is an alumnus of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), an Edison Fellow of the British Library, a member of the Société des Arts Sciences et Lettres de Paris, London and artistic director of thinternational cultural association, Les Voix d’Orphée, which he founded together with Laetitia Grimaldi. Ammiel Bushakevitz was named Steinway Artist in 2025.

The HeART of Mauritius for Palestine

Mauritius is so much more than a beautiful tourist destination – at the heart of this island lives a community that cares and stands in solidarity. The true soul of this small island lies in its big heart. At its core there are people, local and foreign who truly care about the world, deeply affected by the injustices, genocides and ecocides occurring across our planet.

For example: the mother of one of the organisers passed away last year.  Bijou, a Mauritian artist painted boldly on oil, deeply inspired by women and nature. During her last days, her dying request was for her paintings to be sold to help women. And so, in the Morisyen spirit of this heART- filled event, we are now fulfilling that wish.

 

But long before this moment in time, before the escalation (since October 2023) of more than 75 years of ongoing injustice and genocide in Palestine, Mauritian citizens have been standing up for Palestine. One shining example is SOMALP (Solidarite Morisyen Ar Lepep Palestinn – Mauritians in Solidarity with the People of Palestine) – launched in 2020, continuously standing up for Palestine through various conferences, letters, direct actions, marches and cultural events. A year ago, on the 25^th of January along with an artist committee SOMALP organised a Zurne Artistik “Liber Palestinn” – Solidarite Kont Zenosid Israel-US bringing together over 50 Mauritian artists in solidarity with Palestine at the Cafe du Vieux Conseil. The first Palestinian film festival in Mauritius took place in 2015. Mauritians like Ragini Kisnasamy and Alain Ah Vee have even travelled as activists to march in Palestine. So today we stand on the shoulders of a Mauritian legacy of solidarity with Palestine among its people from all walks of life.

We ask that the government hears us Mauritian citizens and residents loud and clear and joins South Africa’s ICJ case against Israel for genocide as well as adhering to the ever-growing international BDS movement with concrete actions. We must remember that Gaza, the West Bank, Palestine are microcosms of a neocolonial world. Diego Garcia is linked to Palestine is linked to Congo to Sudan to Venezuela… and so we are all in this together, especially us citizens of the global south.

Never Again Olive Resistance, a proud member of SOMALP, is a mirror of Mauritian solidarity and caring. This multi award winning docu-film offers a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. It explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice. Zaya and Maurizio Benazzo – two highly immensely talented film makers, give an outsider’s perspective nevertheless deeply connected to Palestinians. They offer a human look at life under Israeli occupation in the West Bank, focusing on trauma, resilience, and the fight for justice, through interviews with Palestinians like journalist Ashira Darwish and activist Ahed Tamimi, plus trauma expert Dr. Gabor Maté, a holocaust survivor himself and activist for Palestinian human rights. The cinematography is breathtaking in its poignant beauty. This film is powerful in its sensitivity and is an artistic triumph as well as being a strong truth-telling so necessary in our troubled times.

Film shorts in Kreol with English subtitles giving a short history on Palestine. Beginning before the creation of Israel, the films then give an insight into the Nakba – the catastrophe during which Zionist groups expelled 750,000 Palestinians from their homes. From this came the loss of Palestinian lands, and the ongoing siege, occupation and invasions, leading to the current genocide since 2023.  The final short explores how we as citizens of the world can support the Palestinian cause through boycotting and activism.

The words of the poem, especially written in 2024, are also dedicated to all Palestinian children and their loved ones The names appearing on this video are only some of the names of the tens of thousands of children killed in the current genocide in Gaza since October 2023. The numbers keep rising. May these innocent souls never be forgotten.

A Palestinian from Nablus living in Mauritius, Dalia Afaneh carries her homeland in her heart despite the distance. She strives to introduce those around her to Palestine – its history, beauty, and culture – so the land remains alive in memory, no matter how far she may be.

Mauritian artists using music as a space for storytelling, memory, and solidarity.

 

Tofer is a Mauritian musician, filmmaker, and cultural practitioner. Music sits at the heart of his work, where voice and guitar are used to express identity, resistance, and shared humanity. Alongside music, he works with image and storytelling, drawing from cultural heritage to amplify voices that are too often unheard.

 

Taz is a Mauritian singer and multidisciplinary artist. Her practice moves beyond sound and words, exploring identity, resilience, and collective memory through creative process. Rooted in culture and community-based work, she uses art as a space for expression, connection, and social engagement.

 

Lindsey Collen

Lindsey Collen is an activist in Lalit and in Solidarite Morisyin avek Lepep Palestinn. She is also a novelist, published in some 5 or 6 languages. She writes some poems, too.

Tania Haberland is a biophiliac award winning poet, artivist, body-worder, integrative counsellor & member of Never Again – Olive Resistance.

 

Fabrizio Dalle Piane is a former European karate champion, somatic coach, body worker, movement artist & member of Never Again – Olive Resistance.

Together they are The Technology of Tenderness. For Viva Palestina they will be presenting a series of fiercely tender poems by Palestinian poets in English & Italian accompanied by the kalimba.

“Art born of breath and love” Janamodini is a Didgeridoo player, Performer artist, Poet and Painter. After years in the corporate world, she discovered the Didgeridoo instrument in 2016 and it ignited the spark in her to embrace her vulnerability. With this nature’s gift, she imbues soul, spirit, peace and love through her art work to the community in Mauritius and beyond.

 

Dini Lallah

Dini Lallah is a short story writer, translator, and permaculture gardener within a community of cultivators. She has been a graphic designer, teacher, and activist since the student movement of the 70s, to the more recent struggle for data privacy. Dini believes in all Peoples’ right to self-determination from colonisation.

 

Denis Larhubarbe

Denis Larhubarbe, also known as Hadad is a 3D artist, drummer of 6 black coffins and sani zekra as well as a darbuka player.

 

Mushirah

Mushirah Luidialam is 26 years old and a rapper. Her rap aims to raise people’s awareness and stand up to the current rap scene that is misguiding today’s youth.

 

Shama A. Rahman

Shama Abdool Rahman is a Winner of the Edouard Maunick poetry prize and published author. Shama’s work traces, in unflinching honesty and raw emotion, the fiery journey that many women live unseen. With a background in English literature and a career in finance, she writes with a rare blend of intellect and heart.

 

Anita Ramgutty

As a writer and consultant, Anita Ramgutty (Wong) works at the intersection of research, public policy and storytelling. She also teaches and consults in communication, ethics, and human resources.

Zainab Soyfoo

Zainab Soyfoo believes in storytelling as a way of bearing witness to life. A Mauritian writer, educator, and slam artist, she uses poetry to bridge memories and keep history alive.

 

Umar Timol

Umar Timol is a Mauritian author, poet, and portrait photographer. He has published four poetry collections, two novels, and a book of portrait photography.
