Ismet Ganti

Painter & Sculptor

Born 6 th. February 1948,Ismet Ganti Started drawing at a very early age, a drawing dated 1956 is still in his collections. First exhibition in 1970 with works pertaining to the Pop Art movement. A few years later he adheres to conceptual Art ideals. In the 90’s he started a whole new approach. A mix of iconography with a conceptual base, where thought process  is the engine. The series named “squares and rectangles”, from this period had no figurative elements and at the same time were not abstract works.

Starting in 1975 he embarks to work  on a three dimensional work, intended to spread on a long period of time. An assemblage of carton boxes that ends in 1998. Twenty three years. Entitled ONTOGENESIS.

The 90’s  is the start ot Contemporary Art here and everywhere else in the world. There is always a precise theme on a series of pieces which thereon constitutes the base of an exhibition.  He creates without rest. With or without exhibition projects.

From the start up to now he has never departed from his views of what artistic creations should be. One can clearly see to what extent he belongs to this History that asks for an always renewed attitude, not to indulge in style ghettos,  questioning  all received ideas, open new alleys, refusing barriers.

He is in the process of a new ‘maniere’ that has started in 2011. The title of the first exhibition of this adventure was named AISENMA THEORY.
