Dan Lasam Ber is a multidisciplinary artistic project by Mauritian singer-songwriter Bernard Moonsamy, bringing together an original short film, music and social awareness in a shared creative experience.
The evening at the Caudan Arts Centre will open with a talk addressing violence against women, in connection with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. This will be followed by a screening of the Dan Lasam Ber short film, before audiences are invited to experience the project through a live concert by Bernard Moonsamy.
Rooted in the belief that art can create spaces for dialogue and reflection, Dan Lasam Ber brings together different forms of artistic expression to engage with social realities and the human experiences that connect us. Through cinema and music, the project seeks to encourage awareness, promote values of respect and compassion, and contribute to conversations around the role of art in fostering positive social change.
Bernard Moonsamy – Singer & Songwriter
Biography of Bernard Moonsamy
“Music speaks where words fail…” – Hans Christian Andersen
This quote resumes perfectly the way BERNARD MOONSAMY interacts with music. As a songwriter, lead singer and founder of two famous musical bands of Mauritius Island, namely Les Inkonus and Anonym, the artist illustrates his music by means of smooth melodies that are played by the means of several rhythms; seggae, pop, sega, reggae, folk and world music. The main aim of his musical project is to bring peace, respect, enlightenment and healing to the world through music.
Born and raised in Pointe aux Sables – western coastal region of Mauritius Island which has held some artists – BERNARD has grown up in an environment which was exposed to the music within a community of different social classes and ethnicities.
Since his youth, the artist was engaged in several social organisations which aim to build a better world. Using music as a weapon to spread the messages of love, BERNARD has dealt with emotions, that by times, may be difficult to express using words without melody.
Through his journey, the artist has performed in several festivals/events worldwide and is now aiming to take a dare with a new project.
