Kotpiale – Where Culture Meets Sustainable Style
Kotpiale’s designs let you wear your heritage with pride – as seen in this “HOME” t-shirt featuring the island’s silhouette.
Kotpiale is a vibrant Mauritian clothing and accessories boutique located at the Caudan Craft Market in Port Louis. Founded in 2015 by two sisters, Karuna and Melissa Veerapen, this homegrown brand infuses modern fashion with rich Mauritian heritage. In fact, the name “Kotpiale” means “Where are you going?” in Creole – a playful nod to local slang that reflects the brand’s cultural flair. For all ages and tastes, Kotpiale offers everything from trendy graphic tees and caps to adorable baby outfits and one-of-a-kind accessories – each made with care right here in Mauritius.
Sustainable & Locally Made
Kotpiale also stands out for its deep commitment to sustainability and community values. Every garment is proudly made in Mauritius, supporting local artisans and small businesses. The brand embraces eco-friendly practices at every step. Even the boutique’s décor is upcycled and single-use plastics are avoided – Kotpiale’s shopping bags are crafted from 100% recycled newspapers by women in local community centers. This ethical approach means you can shop with a clear conscience, knowing each purchase supports the community and helps protect the environment
