After successful and sold-out series of Strings Go Pop, Strings Go Pop 2, Best of Strings Go Pop, Strings Go Christmassy, and Strings go Pop 3, Ensemble 415 is inviting all music lovers to get into the Holidays mood with a new repertoire of Pop hits!
L’Ensemble 415 is a chamber music ensemble from Mauritius, comprising of 5 violins, 2 violas, 2 violoncellos, 1 double bass and 1 piano. It was created in 2014 by Guy-Noël Clarisse upon returning from his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London. The idea was to gather musician friends in a way that could help expand the cultural horizons of Mauritius. L’Ensemble 415 is eclectic in its repertoire, which includes the historical performance of baroque music, pop, folk, film music and more generally classical music. It is the only ensemble of its kind in Mauritius, and has performed on various national platforms, and internationally in Madagascar, Reunion island, Mayotte, Nosy Be and Ghana. Rehearsals are regular and draw on the passion of each member for music as practised with an open mind regarding genres, and a quest for stylistically-informed interpretation.
L’Ensemble 415 gets its name as a reference to the frequency of the tuning fork note A during the baroque period, which was 415 hertz (and was later changed to the contemporary 440 hertz). Music composed at any period in time has its own particular subtleties that need to be attended to in order to define its own unique style and colour. It is with this idea of musical detail that the members of L’Ensemble 415 have been making music together since October 2014 under the lead of Guy-Noël Clarisse.
Members : Guy-Noel Clarisse (Violin and Artistic Director), Joanna Gentil (Violin), Stephanie Cybele Clarisse ( Violin), Emmanuel Murairi (Violin), Rachele Arele (Violin), Roxane Firmin (Viola), Benjamin Chamarandy (Cello), Kersley Pytambar (Doublebass), Marie-Christinne Clarisse (Piano).
